Well a ‘normal’ ASC costs a fiver or so, I doubt you’d find many people who’d be able or willing to cut it aways as neatly and skilfully as it is for a tenner, so in that respect it’s not a bad deal...

It’s a standard badge which someone has gone to a great deal of trouble cutting the star off by the looks. So it’s about 60% of a badge.

Why it was done is anyone’s guess.

The badge is not from the Gaunt die so the plaque is either fake (which I suspect from what I can see of the shape/size) or did not originally start out life on that...

With silver plated and gilded badges once it’s worn off you’ll never get them back like they were originally, even at great expense.
