Seems odd that the driver and presumably the machine gunner are both carrying rifles. Was this normal?

Acorn,
That first badge looks like a bazaar made badge; Middle East, India?
Its construction is crude, probably copied from a genuine badge.

The Camerons appears to be silver or frosted silverplate. Definitely not a plain old white metal other ranks badge. Officers or pipers badge? Just a thought.

Yes, in my Tyneside Irish book, the badge is shown as a shoulder title and occasionally as a collar but not a single photo as a cap badge.

Any comments on this book?

"Military Badges for Collectors and Historians" by Roger W. G. Capewell @ £12.50 + P & P. Always up for a new book if there's something to be gleaned from it. Any comments are welcome. Thank you!

The slider of a genuine badge could be stamped with a makers mark at any time, so who knows? Real badge with recent mark to make it potentially more interesting? Anything is possible.

I thought it had entertainment value before. Now I see someone paid £40 for it, that's even better!
Don, in this case, I don't think any battlefield was disturbed but a buyer may have been.
