Never had sliders.
Only the 2nd VB was bimetal
Footed loops are a sign of a fake.

Earlier than WW1, Its was YC, then IY and then in 1908 just Yeomanry, but soldiers retained them well after their expiry date so who knows when he stopped wearing them.

It is the Sphinx collar badge and the only thing I can think of to be attached below the Egypt tablet would be a 4 or a M for Militia, but both sound unlikely to me, so really I am unsure.
