I've checked "Friends Ambulance Unit, List of Members and Addresses 1914-1919", no trace of an H Burt, Bunt, Bert or anything similar, closest is an HH Burtt.
No trace of a Raphael.

I think he's wearing the metal "SR" title on the shoulder strap and regimental black buttons - no tartan patch behind his badge.

About 20 years ago there was a BAE Systems Joint Strike Fighter Chief Engineer named Phil Cronshaw but I can't see he'd have his own badge like that one.......

I think the blue and white badge may be a British ATS Royal Signals, perhaps GPO Home Guard one but don't know what the 1 WO signifies.

Yes, I've found the thread, these MPSC, Norfolk Yeomary etc threads always get interesting.

A suggestion was that chap was likely too scruffy to be MPSC and more likely to be a Schoolmaster.
