I'm away from my references but 4th Battalion...

I'm away from my references but 4th Battalion wore a blue/red square on the shoulder straps - however is that square monotone (?) and the 1914 belts suggest a service battalion.

Officers beret badge. Not official wear in the battalions, although the regimental tailors had a large supply and tried to fob them off on naive young officers when they kitted them out.

The french horn with crown appears on KOYLI crests, letterheads, OCA and sweetheart...

Mike, the large bronzes date as the large a/a and were also worn in silver/plate on No 1 Dress. The smaller bronze collars have lugs and pins - as do the shoulder titles.

Indeed it is. All my secondary sources say gm appeared after the reforms of 1881 but I've not seen a primary source that confirms this. Sure someone on the forum can quote it for us.
