Which Regiment

Hi all,

I have just found this photograph in a group on Facebook where someone is trying to identify a family member from this photograph whilst clearing her father's house.

They aren't getting very far so I wondered if anyone on here would be able to identify it?

At first look, I thought it looked very similar to a family photo I have from someone in the 15th/19th Hussars in the 1930s. Is it a similar unit to that?

Thanks,

Michael

Going by the sabretache I would say West Kent Yeomanry.

Have always found this site useful when identifying similar Regiments and Yeomanry.

Brilliant, thanks Luke.

Thanks Simon, I'll bear it in mind.

He is an officer of the Queen’s Own West Kent Yeomanry circa late 1890s.

Thanks Toby, that's great.

As the chap's name is on the photograph, Geoffrey Something, his career should be easy to follow using the appropriate army lists. Presumably the photograph was taken in 1897.

I think he's East Kent Mounted Rifles/Yeomanry although someone with more knowledge of plume colours may put me right and confirm he's West Kent.
