Guards Parachute Wings

Does anyone know if there is a formal (NSN'd) version of the No 1 dress parachute (or SAS parachute) wings for the Guards scarlet tunics - or is it simply a private purchase piece from unit tailors?

Certainly in my day (80s 90s) it was an issued badge and not private purchase. Guardsman returning from a successful 'P' Company would deliver their tunic to the Tailors shop and the badge would be supplied by and applied by the Regimental Tailors.

As Simon said, Regards Mark

I think you mean the Jumps course. You don't get a badge for passing P Coy.

I have looked through 4 issues of JSP768 published between 2000 and 2016 and the only badges listed that are possibilities are shown below.

The parachute wings are listed for the Life Guards Full Dress

The SAS wings are listed for No1 Dress

But both could be worn on Foot Guards Full Dress?

Alan,

Sorry for not being clear, ofcourse the wings are awarded after the parachute jump course but we always referred to it as P Company within the Battalion when someone went away for the training and returned with a pass.

Regards Simon.

That's what was confusing me - because I know I've seen versions with the scarlet backing being worn....

Also appologies for calling them 1s - please excuse a bootneck's ignorance of things Household!

Is this the one you mean ?

See this thread https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ghlight=Guards

Dark navy blue is the correct backing colour for parachute wings worn on Foot Guards scarlet Full Dress but officers (may) wear parachute wings with a scarlet backing which are private purchase.

However, there remains a mystery that there is no listing in JSP768 of parachute wings on dark navy blue backing for Foot Guards.

As I posted above, the version for the Life Guards, who wear a scarlet tunic in full dress, might be the answer.

Thanks guys - it appears that, as ever, regulations and reality do not quite tie up!
