The last I heard his defence Attorney had put in an appeal so the sentence is on hold until the appeal has run it's course.
I also would have thought that with a peace deal signed and Riek Machar reinstated as vice President, Will would have been released

Apparently Riek Mashar landed back in S Sudan today to take up his position as Deputy President amid the peace celebrations.

I guess he was able to swing Will's release but I will believe when he has been released

I just saw in this morning's paper that he had been pardoned and was due to be released yesterday and deported but no confirmation if he had been returned to SA yet. Good news anyway.

Apparently he's now been released as of Midday (02/11) today and he'll then be deported to SA
