Dating duty arm badges and if Specials or not
 

Any tips on how to date duty arm bands? I know ww1 Special Constabulary bands stand out due to being printed, or having badges attached, and that more modern ones might be given away by the material they are made from, and looking new. But what about the method of fastening? Can that help?
For example, Special Constabulary bands. I have seen one type of arm band made from towel looking material, vertical stripes with a loop type fastener and button recess to the other end, which is described as both ww1 SC and also ww2, with nothing to make it stand out as SC.

If i recall correctly these were also used for traffic controllers .

Thanks Steve. So not exclusively SC. Maybe not necessarily war period either. Re Traffic controller use. Do you mean regular Constables? If so, did they wear a different arm band for normal duties? or are you talking post arm band (armlet) era? and the bands were only used by traffic controllers

I have seen them worn with SC on them, but also without worn on sleeve into the 50s for those regular officers directing traffic.
