Hi,
Is this a pathfinder badge.
Have read some of the posts and it seems to be a minefield.
I can't work out the rear fixings, would it possible go on a pocket?
Many thanks in advance.

Is this a pathfinder badge ? Yes, why not ? Albatrosses / Eagles with various fittings were utilised.

Oh, no ! Decisions, decisions.

The original pathfinder eagles had a pin back fastening so as to be easily removed, as they were not to be worn on operations. However, when operations ceased many took to wearing whatever version of the EAGLE they had available. Some used bladed badges, some used the lower part of the officers FS Cap badge (screw fittings) and some maybe used the lugged NCO aircrew eagle. The most common version I have seen has been the screwback type. I knew two still serving pathfinders in the 1970s and they both used the latter version.

It is merely an RAF cap eagle, unless, you happen to know if it's original owner had actually been a serving member of 8 Group and was entitled to wear it as a member of the PFF.
