Hello from Coventry

Hello everyone, recently joined member, I am Dave from Coventry, long time collector of militaria and have recently decided to move into cap badge collecting, I know it's a bit of a minefield but I'm trying to learn as much as possible, wish me luck !

Thanks for the welcome guys, I've read a couple of books on the subject and have bought about 10 badges over the last month, so much to learn. I have a collection of ww2 medals which took a lot of research but this is a different gravy, this forum has been a great insight.

Hi Vialli, and welcome to this forum. I am a fairly new member as well, and I can assure you the members here are extremely helpful, and their knowledge is amazing, not to mention their collections.

Yes, I agree collecting badges is a mine field, but learning all you can and finding good reliable sources is the only way to go. There is a sale area section and buying from the members is always safe and good established dealers. Ebay is the biggest mine field and there are lots of shady sellers there.

Bottom line enjoy the hobby. What area are you pursuing?

Hi Terry, thanks for the welcome and for the advice. This site has been invaluable and i'm trying to learn all I can, I've bought a couple of books and have been doing a lot of research. I've been lucky enough to meet a fairly local dealer who has given me some guidance and I have bought a few badges with confidence from him. I'm not really focusing on any regiments in particular just WW1/WW2 and selecting badges that take my fancy on the day, i'm up to 18 at the moment but I am really enjoying it, very interesting too. What about yourself ?
