I have seen this before but the only reference I can find is that it was the fictional regiment in Von Ryan’s Express, I don’t recall seeing any worn in the movie though, I believe most of the allied troops are wearing KD clothing.

"Von Ryan's Express" is currently showing on Film 4. In the opening scenes where Ryan (Frank Sinatra) appears, the surviving senior British Officer (Trevor Howard) announces that most of his men are "The 9th Fusiliers...we fought with Marlborough"... Can't see the badge in wear, but a thought...
