Hi Alex

Its a Gaunt , early 1970s, SP. It is a brass base... thats nickel plated and then silver plated. DO NOT pay £60 plus..... its not that rare and its only a light weight SP

Silver Plate (Long Looped E/W)

I know not a lot about these badges but I've heard of a line across the forehead die flaw on some motoes, is that the diagonal line shown on this badge?

Some images in natural light, as requested. Not sure if they're any better.
Cheers,
Alex

Presumably not as the mark I was referring to doesn't appear in the more recent images.

Leigh.... in the case of the Gaunt (the post 1960) a scar will be seen on the top left bone end. This is a good visual indicator for this motto. There are good and bad scars in the Motto.... depending on the maker.

Thanks for that info.
