Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Reg Collars

I was very lucky to pick up a haul of TA collars last week.

I've checked out some previous threads on the two collars representing harts in water at the bottom of the scan and I understand they are Beds & Herts Regiment. There was an interesting thread from back in 2013 where nobody had found any facing collars (the harts facing the other way). Do we know if that is still the case?

Cheers
Mark

I have this one.

Mark ,do you mean the herts and beds TA in the top row? If so,they are both the same way ala 16th/5th Lancers.
They are /were worn by a TA RA regt that came from the Beds and Herts TA. 201 Para Battery,100 regt RA.
Can be found with a single lug or 2 pins on the rear.

Hi Mike

Thanks for providing some help. It's all a bit of a confusing conundrum with these two counties for me.

I hope I'm right in that there was the:
Herts & Beds Yeomanry (TA)
and the totally different
Beds & Herts Regiment (TA)

(county names swapped around).

The Herts & Beds Yeomanry (TA) collars are in the top row.
Two different Beds & Herts Regiment (TA) collars are in the bottom row.

Marc then has a facing hart from the Beds & Herts Regiment. Might have all this upside down, inside out and back to front - so would appreciate being put right.

Mark,
Hart in water (bottom row right) is the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment - I have two facing right versions and have been looking for a partner for about 40 years!

The standing Hart is 5th Bn Bedfordsire Regiment TA - I have two facing left (as yours) again looking for a partner for 40 years!

Thanks Tim for the clarification.

Probably a disappointment to miss out on bagging one, but at least you now know that there is a Beds & Herts Regiment collar with the sitting hart facing left. I do hope you find another one eventually to add to your very impressive collections.

Could it be that the 5th Bn Beds right facing standing hart doesn't exist unless you've seen a photograph of a facing pair being worn?

Thanks for all the replies. I was definitely reaching for the blood pressure pills, but confusion over thanks to your assistance. It's a shame there isn't a Marsh type opus on a/a collars for the unknowledgeable like me.
Thanks
Mark
