Royal Norfolk Regiment

I picked up this brooched badge to the Royal Norfolks, yesterday. She was in need of a bit of love and affection, which I was more than happy to provide.

After applying jut the tiniest amount of WABU, she has come up a real beauty; so pleased I brought her home with me. She must have been brooched early on in her career, therefore being spared the traumas army life would no doubt have caused her.

Beautiful job, she's lovely, glad your lavishing her with care and attention. Well done Simon ;)

I am obviously very well behaved and don't clean anything unless its an a bit of a poor state, but I'm desperate to give my new RRF belt buckle a clean, its modern, so it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, yep I'm going to do it, made my mind up.

It's one of those divisive subjects which has been knocked back and forth on the forum over the years. Sometimes a gentle, sympathetic clean can work wonders without compromising the badge's appearance.

All a matter of personal choice, of course.

Apart from removing verdigris, I have only ever cleaned one badge:

But as this is a modern, modern buckle and is covered in fingerprints I see no issue in cleaning it, somebody, until recently was keeping it in good condition so I might as well do them proud and give it a bit of a clean up.
