BRCS Titles in WWI

I am trying to determine if the metal BRCS titles were worn in WWI?

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds
This is a picture I found online, but am not sure if it is WWI or WWII?

Another picture I found online, and I believe this is a BRCS/VAD in WWI. She appears to have the metal titles on her shoulder.

Any help is appreciated.

I believe its G1 meaning Grade One, a qualification given to female members of detachments. Grade 1 in what though? I dont know.

Only worn on the shoulder strap on outdoor uniform, ie jacket or greatcoat.

"On each epaulette are brass titles ;'G1' shows that she has the BRC Grade 1 qualification."

Excellent photo in book show a VAD nurse in British Red Cross Society dark blue 'outdoor' uniform with numerous badges/titles.

Unfortunately, the wartime uniforms of the Red Cross and St John organisations are some of the least recorded/published in books, making it very difficult to determine what is pre-war/wartime/post-war.

Thats a great photo showing many of the obscure arm badges that could be worn.

Dress Regulations are very helpful but hard to find.

Thank you all gentlemen. It was my understanding that they did wear the metal titles during both wars, and I have seen two types - solid, and voided versions of the titles. Not sure if this helps ID the time frame or not. I have also understood that the "GI" badge indicates a Grade 1 Nurse.

I dont think the voided v non-voided titles can be used to indicate period of use.
