We have become so used to coming across dodgy badges in our interest that you start looking for faults with every purchase.

I was pleased to get this small version of the West Lancashire National Reserve buttonhole badge.

My only thought is why would they make a miniature version of a badge that was already a buttonhole badge ?

So I wonder if anyone has come across a small version of a National Reserve badge for any other county ?

Could the smaller badge be an economy measure (less metal, unvoided area albeit enamelled or painted)?

I don't know the reason but the British Legion produced various miniature badges with different fittings :
Pendant (dangler) , Pin fittings , Tie pin /stick pin , screw post , buttonhole.

I have an order form/price list from 1937 which states they are :
Quote:

"To be sold only to members in possession of the officially numbered Badge".

Sally Bosley's site has three National Reserve London miniature badges , a watch fob medallion badge , a cravat pin badge and lapel badge with buttonhole fitting.

Learnt something new today that there are large and small versions of these badges ( also happier with the price I paid when I see what dealers are asking )
