And?... It appears so, French Commandos by the look of it, are you querying it or disagreeing with the description?

tarabelle 21-06-19 10:06 AM

Nope :)

I'm posting a picture I think is interesting in the section which is for photographs of British service men and women wearing insignia. Does there always have to be a question or a dispute or an argument :rolleyes:

Take time to enjoy things for what they are peeps

Why do you feel there's dispute or argument?
The post I edited to
"....."
originally said
"And......?"

It's not clear from the text that accompanies images that you post as to what you're trying to say, you appear to be challenging the identification given so yes, interesting images but it's difficult to know what response you're expecting.
Post no. 3 has added information relevant to the image, it's not "arguing"

Hmmm

Anyhoos my friend tells me the info along with the pic identifies one of these fine fellows as Frank Barton of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and it's close to Lord Lovats temporary head quarters.

I'm sure those experts and gentlemen amongst you will know far more about this and probably already knew who and what this was

Like Leigh said. I didn't know he'd written And... but as I did aswell we both thought the same thing. Your post was ambiguous. No dispute, no argument, nice photos though.

Standing in the foreground is said to be (then) Lt Col Derek Mills-Brown. No 6 Commando. 1st Special Service Brigade
The picture has been colourised and is widely available on the web in its original format, the location is Ranville landing Zone N which possibly 6 Commando secured after moving from the beaches on DDay for the glider troops to safely land on the 7th June.
It did seem if you were questioning the picture

Paul
Is it Derek Mills-Roberts CBE DSO MC (rather than Mills-Brown?)
Good research on the image

Thanks for the correction Mike, I don’t know what happened there and I can’t blame predictive text.
An exceptional Officer who didn’t like Batons

Thank you for the kind comments :)

Can we remember we are not all at the same level of knowledge but we all appreciate what these brave men did :)

I will post pictures I like and which say something to me

T :)

leigh kitchen 22-06-19 10:34 AM

I have no great knowledge of the subject of this photo.
A few of us have indicated that what you were saying needed some clarification please, simply that.
Nobody has said your posting of these interesting images isn't appreciated or that you shouldn't do it. What right would we have to say that? Why would we?

Frank Kelley 23-06-19 01:37 PM

Do you question that?
