11th Hussars Brown beret

Adopted in 1932 the brown beret with scarlet band was unique to the regiment.

Worn throughout the Second World War, can anyone tell me if it survived in the post war years or if not when it disappeared?

It went on amalgamation with the 10th to form the RH.

Whilst the brown beret remained it did not have the red band and was worn with a badge. The brown beret is still worn by the KRH today.

The Royal Hussars and KRH badges were on a red tombstone attached to the brown beret.

Only real change lately is from black badge to ..... well it looks gilt.

The band is neither scarlet nor red, but a deep crimson; the color of the breeches worn in dress by the regiment.

There’s an excellent write up on the beret on the KRH web site https://www.krh.org.uk/the-origins-o...own-beret.html

Having tead the excellent article it begs the question as to why the beret pictured above has a cap badge on it?
