In good condition for its age and with the Army Numbers of two of its former owners. 2615439 1st Btn and 2616009 Btn. I can find no trace of the first number but the latter appears to be that of Guardsman Robert Henry Platts, who was wounded in France in 1940 with the 2nd Battalion, and again on 7th November 1943 in Italy whilst serving with the 6th Battalion.

I note that the visor of that period was not quite as severely angled and cropped as the post war style.

Nice cap, I have a Grenadier Guardsman's cap to a man who as a Lance Sergeant in the 6th Bn was killed at Salerno and another to a Guardsman killed in Africa.
