Australian WW1 Battalion Patches

I wonder if any WW1 AIF experts can tell me when/if this style of patch was worn during WW1. It has the look of a jacquard loom made piece reminiscent of German BeVo badges. I am not in any way casting doubt on the seller I would just like to know more before I embark on collecting these patches.

Hello, these were produced in Australia at or near the end of the Great War, probably by the Commonwealth Clothing Factory, and numerous examples exist. They have been the subject of previous threads. Keith

These are available on Ebay and a few dealer sites, there were a large amount of these found in an factory in Melbourne I believe and as stated these were produced at the end of the war to be worn on the coming home tunics that's why you are seeing them all over the place.

I have shown an example of what is out there BTW David is a trusted dealer.

Nothing wrong with the patch, but the price these guys are trying to gouge???
They come up on Ebay all the time for les than half that price.

Thanks,
Jas

The seller is a forum member.

Feel free to contact him directly if you have comments about pricing rather than making asinine comments online.

My post was not intended to cause an argument about seller prices merely to ask about the period of wear or at least production of these items and thanks to those who replied I now have more confidence to look at buying a couple. An item is worth what someone will pay and its an individual choice as to how much we spend.

Thanks again to all have helped its been very instructive and helpful.

All the best for 2017

I will make comments about whatever I feel I would like to make comments about. Stating a fairly obvious fact that $250 is a price gouge.
It like saying $1.40 a litre for petrol is a price gouge.
If you look at the thousands of posts and comments on this site you will see hundreds of comments just like mine on various pieces of insignia saying they are a rip off or overpriced etc etc. Take a chill pill buddy.

I have just realised you advertise/promote this Militaria Dealer at the bottom of your posts. It now makes sense why you have come out whining over a simple comment about how expensive they are.

Mark,

Well I was only helping to make sure you did not pay twice the amount for an item since you were just starting to collect these items but someone took offence to me trying to save you money. Anyway check this current ebay militaria dealer who by all accounts sells things at reasonable prices. You should pay in the range of $50-$120 for these patches. Quite a few listed here from starting bidding of $49.

Good luck with it.

Thanks,
Jas

Jas,

thanks and the links have shown me that there are clearly price variations. I shall watch Australian Ebay and seek advice if in doubts

Mark
