Would like the forums opinion on this HP, recently sold on ebay.

Whilst I am not particularly familiar with these, it appears to be good. The center has the correct loops. Cannot be sure about the star as the reverse would need to be shown. The colored cloth backing is missing of course.

Just wondering as the four loops on the HPC look to be the same size.

Good afternoon,
I have taken more, hopefully clearer photos to support the text and allow members to form their own opinions as the ones on eBay aren't the best.

Both the plate and the centre are well struck and overall have the characteristics of badges produced in this period. . . .
The HPC slots are in the correct place with good voiding to the harp and crown and the braize used appears correct and is applied with the usual untidiness of the time etc. All the loops on each piece will not bend and appear to be the right gauge of brass and copper, aswell as good overall patina on both pieces.

Any one of the above on their own is pretty much meaningless, but taken all together it does suggest, to me at least, its' okay.

I bought the plate and am overall very pleased with it. (Happy with only 3 weeks wait from Australia, too)

The questions I cannot answer with 100% certainty however are:

"Should all original centres have a longer central loop" ?

"Should all original helmet plates have a third loop in the north position" ?

Hopefully someone has the answers :)

Neil.

As far as I am aware, the number of lugs did vary, but yours is correct for a four loop type.
