OSD Cap or Collar Badge
 

Hi Chaps,
can someone help me out with this question please? Is the attached a bladed collar badge or a small OSD cap badge, or is it an officer's item at all? It measures 29 x 30 mm and "DINGWALL" marking to the reverse.

If I remember correctly from repairing a couple of these the collar has 5 wheat sheafs for some reason although being smaller than the cap badge with only 3, I'm sure bill or one of the other Canadian collectors will know better than me though.

Hello AndyPhilips, It appears you have a tang back (as the fastener is called in Canada) collar badge, other ranks to the 46th Bn. A very large number of Canadian CEF badges were made with flat backs, leading to confusion as to the type of badge with officers' badges.
If you could provide the overall height and width it would be easy to confirm cap or collar.
