Lincolnshire Regiment oddity

Hi all,

I picked this Lincolnshire Regiment badge up recently and it was an impulse buy that I am now reflecting on the wisdom of. With very badge there is a story though.

It is I think the brass centre from an Officer's Lincolnshire Regiment cap star type badge as per K&K 1957. It has been lugged east-west where as the centre pieces like the one I have shown from BM Officer's badge I show as well are wired generally north south. I think the BM ones are NCO's as the Officers tended to be diamond cut stars and silver centres like in my Lincoln's album.

I doubt that it was worn as a forage cap variant but I guess you never know. I have never seen a photograph of such a round Sphinx being worn so for now I will treat it as part of a badge. I doubt it was done to deceive as has some age to it and the lugs.

Anyway may be a lesson for others, cheers Dean.

I had seen this myself and wondered about it. Thanks for the post though - good to see!
