Natal Hussars

Hi All

Another resent acquisition for my small but growing Natal Colony Colonial badge collection.

The Natal Hussars were a forerunner of the present day Umvoti Mounted Rifles, an armour Regiment. Never a large unit numbers appear to be around 100 odd at any one time. It has been one of those badges that I have always been after but somehow never came my way until late last month.

They only earned 40 Zulu War medals in 1879.

Regards
Brian

You are very lucky to encounter one of those plates in South Africa these days.

They are actually helmet plates, although, rather small ones!
