Royal Artillery Indian Mess Servants KC badge

Hi all,

Subject of an earlier thread relating to a Royal Artillery Indian Mess Servants pagri brass badge I show an attractive cast silver example. This is a post-1902 badge with RAR cypher. Reference to these is provided in Litchfield's 'Uniform Insignia of the Royal Artillery' p42/43. I understand that Indian Mess Servants could not wear the regimental cap badge so had a stylised badge as in this case and like the LR cypher version I have for the Leicestershire Regiment.

Cheers Dean

Indian Arty Mess badges

So now I've got to look for a "silver" one? Strewth, this hobby is never ending! Here are mine as per Litchfield's book although they appear to be white metal, they are each different in their metal composition. The third is an Indian Arty. Officer's crossbelt plate which is stamped on reverse "Barton Silver" Regards, David J.

Thanks and just to be pedantic an Indian mess servants should be called a Khitmatgar and hence these are Khitmatgar badges.

Cheers Dean.
