Perth Regiment Cap Badge questions
 

I wonder if someone can help me learn more about this cap badge and these buttons. Admittedly, until yesterday when I discovered them in a jar of old buttons that I bought at a garage sale, I had no idea what the badge was. I’ve read every post on this site about The Perth Regiment but haven’t seen a reference to this type of badge. From the perthregiment.org website I’ve learned that it may be what’s called a 1st pattern cap badge. I’d really like to get an idea of their age, value and any other information known about them.

Not sure about the size of the badge, it may be a collar.

Thanks for the welcome! Sorry, I should have thought to include the measurements... It measures about 1 3/4 inches vertically and 1 1/2 inches horizontally. I bought them in Stratford, Ontario if that also helps. ~Pam

with the dimentions quoted, 1 3/4 X 1 1/2, to me would indicate a Cap badge. It appears to be the pattern worn in World War Two. The Regiment was raised in Stratford Ontario.

Hi, Bill. I believe that I’ve become quite fascinated with my little find. I’m going to see if I can find some pictures of the Regiment, who was in it; that sort of thing. Cliff provided very valuable information and I want to dig in a little and see what else I can learn… It’s like I’ve uncovered a little piece of history that I’m looking forward to learning all I can about. My grandfather was also in the war and my mom just told me that she has a trunk full of his war things that have been in her attic for decades… I’m excited to take a peek! He wasn’t in the Perth Regiment; I’m not sure who he was with.
