Different sized HC badge loops

I would be happy to know the reason for Household Cavalry ERII a/a cap badges having different sized retaining loops at rear, viz. 10mm and 13mm long.

Thanks

Could be a few reasons
different maker
hat or beret badge
older version is shorter as more recent beret badges are worn with the back backing cloth in the beret.
or no reason at all and the maker increased/decreased the length for no reason

Further to my query concerning lugged HC badges, I can add that the short-lugged badge has no makers markings whereas the long-lugged badge has 'F&S' stamped behind the crown. The latter badge given to me by my cousin when in the Blues & Royals. Hope the foregoing information helpful.
