Nice Jim. Interesting to see the sweetheart pins in both patterns of the badges, eg one with one "R" and one with two "R"s.
The top left badge is not 4CMR, it is for the Ontario Mounted Rifles, a post WW1 militia unit.

Bill... I added the Ontario Mounted Rifles badge in with the 4CMR as they are close cousins... I believe the original name in 1914 was the Ontario Mounted Rifles changed in November 1914 to the 4th CMR. The badge of the Ontario Mounted Rifles (the name adopted by the Mississauga Horse after reorganization in 1920) is patterned after the 4CMR badge, which the OMR was designated to perpetuate. Hi Jim, Yes you are quite right re the Ontario Mounted Rifles. Many collectors do not know about the difference.
It is interesting to follow the evolution of badges through time. The amalgamations and redesignations create new badges which often incorporate elements from earlier units. The Royal Canadian Hussars is example that comes to mind, combining design elements from the 17 Hussars and the 6th Hussars.

Bill, Why if the top left badge is a post war badge does it have the word overseas? Just curious. Ray

Ontario Mounted Rifles
 

Good question Ray, I am not sure. The regiment perpetuated the 4 CMRR and the 9th Mississauga Horse of the Canadian militia. The Ontario Mounted Rifles were formed by redesignating the 9th MH on March 15, 1920 to the OMR, and then back to the Mississauga Horse in 1924. The OMR also were intended to represent the 4th CMR in the post war militia.
The obvious connection with the "Overseas" would be the perpetuation of the honours won by the 4 CMRR. That CEF unit had originally been called the ONTARIO MOUNTED RIFLES, later renamed the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles. (Still later the designation added the "Regiment" and officially became the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifle Regiment.) The 4th CMR were recruited from the Governor General's Body Guard, the 9th Mississauga Horse, 25th Brant Dragoons, and the 2nd Dragoons. The 4th CMR were perpetuated by the Mississauga Horse, which in turn is now perpetuated by the Governor General's Horse Guards.
