G(Guards) Company The London Regiment appear to have a new cap badge, has anyone seen it and do they have any photos of it?

Thanks, I've already seen this which is why I asked the question. Clearly the badge is worn now but not clear from that photo as its too small. Looking forward to seeing close up pictures sometime.

Not a design that I like.

Apparently they're on version 2 and its slightly different. I think it might look good in real life as soon as anyone finds an image of it.

Which one of the seven photos are you referring to exactly?.

The badge you see is the Regimental Crest. Those with cap stars are Coldstreamers and it appears an Irish one as well, count the points (8) vs 12. All companies wear their traditional badges thus far. Maybe the G Coy. will get one like the crest.

The November 2018 edition of the Bulletin of the Military Historical Society showed these two black and white images. Apparently the metal version - gilding metal, 45mm high by 40 mm wide and with east/west lugs - is due to replace the earlier cloth version. The version shown has no coloured enamel but will have those used in the cloth version as per the drawing.

Are there plans to make this the regiment's only cap badge?

Thanks Jon, that's the badge. I got a reply from the regiment this morning although not with a photo, this is the badge of G (Guards) Company and RHQ.

Hi Guys,

The new badge (officially a cap star) for the G (Guards) Coy LONDONS was approved by the Army Dress Committee in October last year subject to further approval by The Sovereign.

If Her Majesty is happy with the design, it will be provided for by public expense, so will come with NSN and pattern No.

Another 'New Metal' item to look out for but it maybe some time before actual bulk manufacture takes place.

Hello all
Is this new badge to be worn by the whole of the London Regiment? Or just G Coy?
What is the orbat of the regiment now please? I have been on Google etc but it's all a bit confusing, they show this badge only?
Hope someone can help

My understanding is that the badge is worn by RHQ and G (Guards) Company. As regards the Orbat, it is confusing but it is certain that the old Queens/PWRR company is now a separate battalion in its own right. There is still, I believe, a Rifles Company and the Fusiliers, London Scots and London Irish are still in the regiment.

It says on the MOD website that these units though part of the Guards Division are not Household troops.
Is the new Guards Company counted as Household troops?

There is no longer a Fusilier Company in the London Regiment. It has returned to the 5th Fusiliers from which it was extracted in the 1980s.

It seems a shame that the lineal descendants of the 1st and 2nd Battalions of The London Regiment no longer form part of its successor Regiment.
