A couple of tired Great War Brassards bearing Brigade and Div Insignia

1. 7th Bde 25th Div on a light blue grey Brigade band
2. 39th Div on a red staff band

Very nice ! my understaning of these brassards with unit / battle insignia was for staff officers who did not wish to soil their uniforms with cloth badges ?but this may be a tad simplistic

Yes, it was more to establish the authority of the wearer than preserve the uniform. Nice pick ups though.
