Royal Marines King's Badge Certificate

1 Attachment(s)
Instituted by King George V, since 1918 the best recruit in each King's Squad is awarded a badge bearing the cypher of George V surrounded by laurel leaves.

The badge comes in a variety of styles depending on the uniform worn.

What I did not know was that each King's Badgeman also received a certificate recording the award and I was pleased to have recently acquired the attached example dated July 1939.

Comments and further information welcome.

King's Badge certificate

Thank you so much. I had never seen one of those before. I seem to recall that the top student on the All Arms Commando Course (Gunners and Sappers mostly) in the 1960s was awarded a so-called Commando Medal. I have never seen one but recall it being presented to a LBdr Pothin on the AACC I was on Jan/Feb 1964. Mike

D S Rawle appears on the complete list of King’s Badgemen on the RM Historical site which gives the background and history of the award.
