Post no. 7 in the thread that I linked has this comment from a former WOI who served in the 4th/7th RDG and the RDG:
"These "collar badges" (approx 20mm) were standard wear on the collar of Service Dress and No 1 Dress for Officers (and Warrant Officer Class 1) of the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards right up to 1992 when the Regiment amalgamated with the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards to form The Royal Dragoon Guards". Billy's badge looks to be of older manufacture than the one I show? |
Hi Leigh these Silver badges I have it as they where worn in the Officer's Hat! As to age of this badge? Would like to know that myself?

Billy,
I have seen them worn on Side cap and on the Beret by officers who also wore a bullion badge to. Added a couple of images in one you will note badge is backed for wear on beret. White metal cap an collar are hall marked 1980’s bullion badge worn on beret is seen here too Full size badge worn on peaked cap never seen a small collar size worn! I was with Regiment 1982-85 Regards Stephen |
