Assistance to identify military buttons marked E W Jackson & Co ?

Hi All.

I've owned a set of 4 Military Buttons which I was hoping to identify.

The following is engraved on the rear of each:

E W Jackson & Co London 58 Gracechurch St

The front feature graphics which include an anchor.

The only thing I could find regarding these buttons was gleaned from the following book:

Military Button Manufacturers 1800 1899 by Peter Naylor.

He indicated that:
  • This company made Army and Navy buttons between 1880 - 1890
  • The wording: Jackson E W & Co was associated with manuf in 1881. Other years included Edward rather than E in the engraving.

As these buttons feature an Anchor I'm thinking they are Naval buttons manufactured in 1881.

Can anyone identify these buttons, including year and theatre of use?

Cheers

Cliff

Thanks Mike.

Very interesting (Royal Thai Fleet).

I'm wondering if the design was specific to an earlier time, or whether the same design continues to be used, but just with different manufacturers?

I'll have to dig a little deeper.

cheers

Cliff
