RAF KINGS CROWN ANODISED BADGE

2 Attachment(s)
I recently saw on eBay a RAF Kings Crown ANODISED badge with lugs sold for around £127.
Can any of our Anodised collectors especially RAF collectors confirm that this badge was made in A/A (possibly as a trial)?
Since then I have been shown another RAF A/A badge with lugs along with a WRAF Kings crown badge, small sew on type also in A/A.
Then another A/A came up on eBay with a "Buy it now" price which I snapped up at a very LOW price of less then £10.

Both the versions are different in make. The one I was shown and the one I brought (2nd picture) are of the same manufacture with NO maker mark.

Chris will know the answer but the lugs on the left hand badge are of a type used by the initial trial badges - the riveting is a different but the shape of the lugs is the same. The metal lugs on the right hand badge are odd. Could they be replacements?

The lugs on the right hand badge are the same style as Rhodesian made badges by Reuteler though they wouldn't have made KC RAF badges. Odd.

Interesting Jerry. The lugs look a little like the Reutler type we see on Rhodesian badges. Additionally, on early anodised aluminium cap badges (by this I mean Kings Crown examples) they are not completely flat backed, void of relief - perhaps with the exception of the Royal Pioneer Corps - from memory.

Could we see an image of the front?

I was watching this also Jerry, but steered clear due to the consensus of opinion that a RAF KC badge never existed in A/A. I've not got it to hand, but from memory the loops your 2nd photo look like the ones on my 'new' badge that was discussed here -https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=60590
Is the detail on the crown much poorer than the rest of the badge?
Got to say that the lugs on the recent ebay sale made me wonder.
Regards, Craig

Images of front, crown, back and lugs,

I think that from the posts above this badge is properly a reproduction. :(

Thanks for the images Jerry. If its a copy, someone appears to have gone to a lot of trouble producing it, but if others have bought similar as a 'copy' in full knowledge of such, then fair enough.

Regards all

Bess
