Hi Guys,

Here's my updated photo of my Singapore and Malaysian armoured corps badges and patches.

Am chasing collar badges and titles for the Federated Malay States Recce Corps and collars for the (FACR) Armoured Car Regiment if anyone happens to have any spares.

Out of curiosity Mick, why are the inscriptions on so many of the modern badges in English?

Is it for wear by the elements that train in Australia from Singapore.

Hi Keith,

English is the main language in Singapore hence why all their badges use English text.

Most of the Malaysian modern badges are mostly in Malay from what I can see. However I'm not sure why the top patches are in English. I had a mate in Kuala Lumpur send me those so I could try and ask him.

Mick

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if collar badges exist for the Federated Malay States Reconnaissance Corps? I've seen a few hat badges but never any collar badges.

I assume they also wore the FMSVF title rather than a specific recce corps title?

Regards,

Mick

FMVRC

I have had this Captain's Patrols Tunic for some time now. I bought it more as a curiousity.

I have a theory that the FMVRC must have been setup by someone who had a WW2 connection with the Reconnaissance Corps.

As you can see on this tunic the collars are silver (and have not been cleaned by me). The neck lining has been stitched over the fastenings. All the tunic buttons are all WW2 style Reconnaissance Corps made by Yousaf & Co. This is a maker that I've not come across.

Hi Les,

Wow - very nice. Now I know they exist.

And if you ever decide to move that tunic please let me know. :)

Mick
