Recently I have re-carded my Australian badges is this title real or a Fake?
Thanks Rob |
I'm think it's more likely an attempt at trench art.

Kangaroo metal shoulder title
Mick, thanks for the reply, it could well be a piece of trench art produced by the "30/- a day tourists" I have had it for a good number of years which of course means nothing, but as I do not see them appearing on online selling sites, I am curious to know if any other members have similar titles.
Regards Rob |
I have two original hand cut Boer War varieties of the badge, one slightly larger than the other. I might have a scan somewhere and will have a look. The trouble with your badge is that it appears to be a casting from a WW1 or later AUSTRALIA title, certainly not hand cut.

agree with both
its cast so more like a piece of trench art or novelty item there are similar designs but all are hand cut brass i would keep it as a novelty item bc |

Kangaroo metal shoulder title
Thanks chaps for your replies, so definitely not an issued item, I cannot remember where I bought it from, possibly in a small collection, I will keep it as an oddity.

Kangaroo metal shoulder title
Thanks Dan for pointing this thread out, so maybe not an attempt at Great War trench art, but possibly earlier.
I will certainly keep it on my Australian board until I see herds of them online for sale . . ! Regards Rob |

My example for comparison, I have had it for about 20-25 years
