Ruskin Badge Frames

3 Attachment(s)
These old 'Ruskin' photo frames with integral regimental badges are nice items. An insert bearing the company's logo and a little ad stating that 'Crest of almost and English or Colonial Regiment' [sic] can be supplied, doubles up as the photo mount. Nice collectible objects in their own right.

Do other members have examples of these?

With thanks,

JT

Nice one. Be good to see a pic if you get the chance at some point, Andy.

There's an RA example on eBay at the moment (I have no connection with the seller, by the way).

Cheers,

JT

Is te one on ebay "right"?

The Royal Artillery badge is not an integral part of the frame, and the slider seems to be too long for the frame to stand up.

Ruskin could have made frames with a slot for the buyer to add their own badge?

Yeah you’re right. I hadn’t noticed that.

We're these badges produced by the company. Or original cap badges attached to the frames ?

I believe the badge on my frame to be original; I have seen ‘real life’ examples as it were, of the exact variant.

That said, it is possible that the badges were copied from originals and then affixed to the frames.

There is no indication on the reverse as to how the badge was attached, and no apparent means of benignly removing it for examination.

In the name of science, a hammer and chisel?

Which slider? The only thing I can see is the fabric tape (snapped) that would have been used to hold the stand in the correct position.
