1 CANPARA yellow ribbon

OK, I know that anything related to 1CANPARA is rare, expensive, etc.

But come on, this is not even original, its yellow ribbon!!

Pity he only has one set, and he offers free shipping.
What more could you want?

Bill A 20-10-11 05:16 PM

I think that it may be original "tape". But, it is an awful price to pay.
Unless, of course, you are putting together an "authentic BD".

1CANPARA tape

these particular 12mm gold-yellow cotton tapes bare a striking resemblance to unissued British 3rd Parachute Brigade loops worn at the base of BD - Battle Dress shoulder straps by members of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion

"Striking resemblance", not even original?

Bill A 20-10-11 05:49 PM

Whatever the fact, they are very very expensive pieces of cloth.

Old Smelly 21-10-11 07:33 AM

Looks like standard bias binding tape, they might have used that but the ones I have seen are different.

Yup, verbage like "bears a striking resemblance" is fake speak for might be real, might be not, but I never said it was...

These are nothing I would want.

Brent Walker 24-10-11 02:32 PM

Resemblance?

The only resemblance these have to the real ones I own is that they're yellow!

Infanteer 26-10-11 03:24 AM

They certainly look thinner than any originals that I've seen but apparently anything could have been used during the war. That being said, the fact that they are unused makes them nothing more than pieces of yellow material IMO.

Nice thread. Here is an example. I wish more were posted.

Unfortunately the Epay pictures and description are no longer available. Does anyone have the pictures they can post? Love to see them.

They definitely can be a tricky item to buy on their own as there are a few styles that are more well known and encountered. However there are also situations where veterans did use other materials.

Cheers

The book "Into the Maelstrom" has some nice pictures but unfortunately they are in black and white.

As Coogan stated there are variations.
Here are three examples of originals.

Thanks Roy, great examples! The one in the centre I have encountered on many 1st Can Para BD's.

Thank you for the nice pictures!
