Most interesting article tonight on the help given to Derbyshire Police and Trading Standards in bringing to justice the maker of counterfeit medals ( and badges ) which included some footage inside the mans workshop.

He was being investigated for 4 Years but he was still allowed to sell his forgeries on you know where, does go to show how useless they are (I try to sell a WW1 pocket knife and it's pulled in half an hour ??). I wonder if they are going to refund those poor souls who bought anything from him (probably not as they knew nothing about this dodgy seller !!).

I am rather disappointed that it took 4 years to stop his activities and even then it only resulted in a suspended sentence. One wonders just how many items and fraudulent medal groups he manufactured in that time.

Also interesting was the ephemera on his table, glengarry badge, shoulder titles, one looked like Notts and Derby’s

He was well known (infamous) as badgeman a purveyor of copy titles if you read his listings he never actually said they were original but the price certainly reflected what you would pay for an original badge.

Not really very much can be done about his badges, many still in the marketplace, although, some are fairly obvious, many more will appear in the future as collections get broken up and moved on.
He was convicted on manufacturing decorations and making up counterfeit medal groups.
