WW1 Royal Sussex Regiment battle patches

I would be interested to know if anyone can identify the battle patches in this photo... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174444562423

I have tried to make close-up, as per attachment. It is diamond above rectangle, seemingly of the same colour.

Any insights welcome!

Apparently 9th Battalion Royal Sussex from 1916. The diamond is actually a four-pointed star. See The Badges of Kitchener's Army by David Bilton, p.203 for the description, and p.205 for a photo almost identical to yours.

Thank you very much indeed!
