WW1 Volunteer Training Corps

Just to start this one off here are three of the VTC (WW1 forerunners of the Home Guard) units that were raised in Wales.
1.Glamorgan Volunteer Training Corps.
2.Denbighshire Volunteer Regiment.
3.Carnarvonshire Volunteer Regiment VTC.
They were also units to Carmarthen and Neath. I have heard rumours of a Bangor (North Wales) unit but have not seen a badge.
Hwyl fawr,
Kevin

A most, most interesting thread, I actually think there are considerably more individual badges than most people realise.

Over the past couple of years I have seen ( but not been able to acquire ) a couple of badges for south Liverpool units ( Aigburth and Mossley Hill ) that I did not know existed previously.

Wilf,
I've missed that one. Where is it referred to in K&K?

I have a funny feeling there are far,far more than we realise.

Kevin

Kevin,
a bit later than hoped but here are the VTC badges i have. The majority i believe to be genuine. I have identified those that the jury are out on and would welcome opinions.
Cheers, Dave

Dave,
The only one I can comment on is the Middlesex. That looks good as it has the right type of finish and the flat lugs.
Hwyl,
Kevin

VTC badges

The only ones I can comment on are the Middlesex, City of Norwich, Surrey VTC and the Athletes Volunteer Force buttonhole, which I think are originals. Without closer inspection of the others, I would not want to speculate as to their originality. Does your National motor Volunteers badge have a name on the reverse?

Many of the other badges shown have been heavily restruck over the years, especially Rochester VTC, Derbyshire Home Guards, Lonsdale and Barrow etc.
