Dating a beret ?

I was wondering if anyone could date this beret ? It was sold as WW2, which i know it is not, but cost less than a tenner.
Thanks Andy

The internal slider pocket is plastic rather than leather - 1970's?
Does misting the inside with a water spray bring up the ghosts of any of the markings?

Thanks Leigh, I'll try that.

Slider pocket and looped stitching around the inside make it from the fifties or later, the large crown to me suggests fifties/sixties. It would help if you could find any further marks with Leigh's trick.

Andy, I'm going 80's - mine was just like it. It may be private purchase even. I think they were Compton and Webb.

I would agree with everyone else, 50's or later, possibly even 80's but I think 70's as already stated by Leigh.

Meant to say "large crown", post now edited. When was the small crown type beret introduced?
