Can anyone tell me more about this banner please?
It was acquired (not by me) in Tallin, Estonia in 1999.
I don't recognise the person shown on the front.

Presumably connected to civilian labour rather than a military organisation.

Looks like Lenin gazing onwards and upwards towards a workers paradise (or something like that).

The profile is of Lenin, typical Soviet USSR banner

Thanks - Lenin's the obvious man most likely with these but I just couldn't see it was him.
Perhaps because of the hairstyle, he seems to be a little more hirsute than usual.

In fact, I think that's because I'm mistaking a crease in the banner for head hair with a D.A.

Makes him look like a "Leningrad Cowboy".

A lot of these Lenin types we're awarded to factories for production levels, I had one for a sugar factorythat produced a milllion tons in one year u can date them by the wheat sheafs /scrolls on both sides that look like battle honors a few were added each year as more states joined the USSR

Thanks for that info, there certainly do seem to be a lot of this sort of banner on the market.
There's a possibility this one was awarded to a steel factory (I'll check), it's spent the last 22 years in Sweden, found it way to me a few days ago (a hefty thing it weighs 4 kilos - £39.50 postage but at least there was no customs duty)..

I Love these banners ! You get a lot of history for a little money and are beautifully made ' they will only go up in value.

Пролетарии всех стран, соединяйтесь!

Proletarians (workers) of all countries, unite!

The political slogan "Workers of the world, unite!" is one of the rallying cries from The Communist Manifesto (1848) by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

Literally "Proletarians of all countries, unite!", but soon popularised in English as "Workers of the world, unite!

Thank you, I thought that or similar would be the wording (my translation skills revolve around comparing Cyrillic lettering on items such as "Nektar" beer labels and RS vehicle plates with whatever I'm attempting to translate).
