Canadian Fusiliers cap badge
 

In the "Canadian post 1920" section on this forum, both a large and a smaller Canadian Fusiliers cap badge are illustrated, with the comment concerning the small badge that it is not much bigger than the collar. Was this small badge worn later than the regular sized one? I picked up an example in a badge lot and first thought it was indeed a collar.Size about 4.3 mm high by 3.0 mm wide.

Hi Loyalist, The small badge may be the badge designed for the shoulder badge of the 3rd Battalion (London & Oxford) Royal Canadian Regiment. It was made to be worn over the cloth title reading London Oxford.
In 1954, a re-organization of the Canadian army amalgamated the Oxford Rifles and Canadian Fusiliers as the 3rd Bn RCR. The shoulder badge was later authorized to allow the two regiments to perpetuate their lineage. The 3rd Bn was later redesignated the 4th Bn. There is a bit of controversy about the small badge. Originally a collar was to be worn, but it proved to be too large for wear. A purpose made badge was ordered. However, it is not clear if these titles and badges were taken into wear.

There were no kc badges made for the Oxford Rifles or the Canadian Fusiliers. (Though the shoulder badge should have been qc.)
