Blackened and with blades fitting

Hello! I saw this RE badge and inmediately I remember one really similar I saw in the album of a member, 11th armoured (hope you don't mind if I named you...if yo do, just tell me and I edit the message)...it is blackened and with blades (one lost)...is it a WWI badge or just from a bed plate?...thank you!

That is a plastic economy badge from WW2. Made in huge quantities (762,000+) and worn by Royal Engineers from about late 1942.

Oh, that's really interesting! I'll keep it with my metallic one and the two collar badges I showed in others thread...thanks for your quick response!

These plastic economy badges are one of the few aspects of collecting that have not been faked to any extent. They are actually worth more to collectors than the standard metal badges, but were very unpopular with the soldiers themselves at the time.
