Unknow Arabic

1 Attachment(s)
Hi, I've always thought this was Arabic, any ideas? thanks in advance, Mike

Eddie Parks 04-05-12 06:36 PM

What makes it Arabic?

fearnaught 04-05-12 06:40 PM

Hi, when I bought it, it was thought to be Arabic. It's been in my unknown pile for years. As I was poking about in that pile I thought I'd give it an airing. Mike

My only comment would be that it doesn't look like a Sov Bloc tank to me so that limits your options.

Hi Eddie, the M48 tends to support that view, though some countries changed suppliers/allegiance over time. Mike

What type of fitting does it have?

Marc

Hi Marc, lugs, EW, nice flat back, well made, Mike

Rules out Egypt then, if mine are anything to go by.

Seems to be short of a road wheel to be an M-48? How about an M-41 (five road wheels)? Also lighter and less unlikely to be an airborne equipment?

Hi Mike, the alarming number of return rollers makes it unlikely to be a true representation but you maybe heading in the right direction. The wings and torch of learning would tend to point to some airmobile capacity. Though with the short gun it would be more likely to be an M24. Thanks Mike

The diagonal lines on the wing tips suggest this badge might be incomplete.

Rgds,

Thomas.

Agreed - and the badge shows a vague representation of the large octagonal armour plate section bolted to the front armour of an M-24. Mike
