It would be nice to add more known repros to this thread. Any member have images?

If a member is on Facebook, there is a group for Canadian reproduction badges. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1508635382724987/

And the perennial reproduction. Canadian Parachute Corps badges are probably the most copied badge for Canadian collectors. Here is a badge recently discussed on FB. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

Reproduction CEF Badge

Good Morning. In a local antique mall recently a vendor had 116th Bn CEF cap badge for offer , 25$ . Plastic bag containing it was marked,COPY.
This badge was flat as a pancake , back lugs looked good , but back had a coarse texture , like sand , peculiar to the touch .
I didn't think I could have taken a photo as we had to have the display case un-locked . Of course, I didn't think to ask the guy .
We did not see this badge on Bondy List . Could it be a Croft reproduction ?
Any opinions on this badge ?
Thanks.
Robert.

Hi Robert, There are any number of fake / copy badges out there. Croft and Bondy were two of the most prolific and documented copiers. But anyone can make a fake. There are vendors on ebay from Macedonia/Greece/Roumania/Bulgaria plus several other mostly eastern European locations that have for some reason quite an inventory of CEF cap badges. (sarcasm) Anyone can make a fake, but the quality varies considerably.
Some copies are scary good, others are terrible. Once 3D printers get into the "wrong" hands, there will be some very good fakes.
A suggestion. As you seem to be getting very serious about the hobby, I would suggest building a file on your devices with images of copy badges.

Repro Badges

Thanks Bill. That sounds like a splendid idea . We'll have to give that a go.
Unfortunately, we're not on Facebook so that page dealing with
fake badges as mentioned previously in this thread is not something we can
access .
If anyone has checked the site out what do they think .
Cheers.
Robert.
