Makes your day when you find something that you didn't know existed.

Griff, yep that's the one. Not even listed in any of the books that I had a look at, they had cap badge, s/t, buttons so generally you would have thought that they would have collar/s (just gotta find the other one now)
Full set now. Attachment 114083 Attachment 114084 Attachment 114085 Attachment 114086 Attachment 114087 Attachment 114088 Attachment 114089 Attachment 114090 Attachment 114091 |
Well done.... that's a rare little collection there :)

I think this thread highlights the difficulty of trying to determine the authenticity or otherwise of badges from photographs.

Jonathan,
Great pick up. I'm very jealous. All I've got is a cap badge & a st to the 3rd. From the construction I'm fairly certain that the Denbighshire VTC badge was also made by Fattorini as well as the flat loops are identical to the Carnarvon st and of course the Glam VTC cap badge. I think I've got a copy of an order for the supply of the later somewhere. Strange though that the Glam VTC sts are not the same construction, being gm & with normal style lugs. As you know I've got a pair to the 3rd GVTC. Hwyl, Kevin |

Kevin.
Now this collar has come to light you have got to wonder if Denbigh had their own and if they did were there buttons as well. Here's what he's got for Denbigh, so maybe some gaps ?? Attachment 114111 |
Jonathan,
As these units were next door to each other & followed the same st pattern it would be logical to assume that Denbigh had a collar badge as well. Is dad happy with those Denbigh titles, considering the other pattern & the fact that there were also Denbigh titles used by the Red Cross? As yet I haven't seen any photographic evidence for the GVTC wearing collars & I've got some good photos now. In the photos I do have, all the GVTC officers & ors are wearing either general issue or leather "football" type buttons. It would also appear that when they changed to the general issue cap badge for Vol units they changed to a slip on st with white woven V Glamorganshire. Hwyl, Kevin |
