Hello!! I have this MP visor cap...When I bought I was told to be WWII...but the sintetic sweetband make me doubt...I know there is a sintetic material called "oiled" that you could see in WWI caps...but the colour was black...and mine is brown...I have seen a similar cap that belong to a great member of this forum...Jerry B...I hope you don't mind if I show the link:

So I will be happy if you tell me what do you think about this cap...thanks a lot!

The Cap Badge is George the Sixth (GVIR) who came to the throne in 1936.

Yes...but this badge was active until 1953...so I dont know if it is a wartime cap or postwar..

As Tony has said, they became Royal in 1946, so the badge is before that date, looking at the pics of the cap there seems to be no date stamps apart from the size.

It could well be from WWII, so until proved otherwise I would give it the benefit of the doubt.

I did not know that became royal in 1946!...so the badge is wartime...unfortunately the cap hasn't got any markings but the size (no dates...no arrows...no makers..)...well...I hope that the badge and the pattern be enought to make this cap a wartime headress...

since I posted my cap in the link, I have been told that it is probably a private purchase cap with features from both 1905 and the new specification cap introduced in 1921 (often called including by me the 1922 pattern). Certainly for my example, the buttons and badge are the pattern introduced c.1921 when the regiment was renamed.

I think it is enought to give credibility to de person who sold me...thanks for your help!

If the cap is good or bad I do not know, but, the cover is on inside out.

Yes...you are right!...I will correct!

Often hard to tell when a badge or in this case a cover was placed on cap, no way of knowing that the cap started life as mp or was rebadged later, the cap is a nice interwars cap but I could not say it was always a mp cap

Yes...thats true...but I just was worried about the fact of being a wartime cap...now I know it is so I am happy with the cap!
